King Saud University was established in 1957 by King Saud bin Abdulaziz to address the need for skilled workers in Saudi Arabia, becoming the country's first university. It was initially named Riyadh University in 1964, but was renamed 
King Saud University in 1982. The university's history includes the establishment of its first college, the College of Arts, in 1957, and it has since grown significantly, including adding graduate programs in the early 1970s.
